The beautiful
and picturesque, medieval town of Taormina is perched on hilly
terrain on the eastern edge of Sicily just north of Mount
Etna – the largest active volcano in Europe.
With its beautiful fine sandy beaches and crystal clear blue
waters, this charming town is one of Italy’s premier
destinations, famed for its great cuisine and unrivalled Sicilian
hospitality.
The Hotel Méditerranée enjoys an enviable location
high up on the hillside with breathtaking views over the sea
and local landscape, as well as the eerie Mount Etna which
seems to loom over towns for miles around.
Guests at the Méditerranée are also afforded
the facilities of our sister hotel down on the beach, the
Méditerranée Lido, meaning you get the best
of both worlds – stunning panoramas and the sun-kissed
Mediterranean.

This historical town is also home to some of the most ancient
remnants of past civilisations in Italy, with an original
ancient Greek Amphitheatre heading the list of attractions.

The amphitheatre was built by Greek colonists in the 3rd
century BC to reportedly hold 10,000 people but later underwent
Roman influence as the island became part of the Roman empire,
making it quite unique in terms of architecture.
